Overview
Located in heart of Waikiki Ilikai is an oceanfront resort that offers guests the most beautiful and relaxing accommodations. This resort offers suite-style rooms that feature open concept rooms that have minimalistic, modern interior design features. And besides the fantastic rooms, this resort also checked off every requirement I had for finding the perfect spot to stay from being accessible to Waikiki Beach, having gorgeous walkways, restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, and spacious suites with multiple rooms this hotel was ultimately the perfect fit for my trip.
Rooms
For starters let's focus on the rooms offered here. The resort has multiple towers each of which has multiple room options. During my stay, I opted for the presidential suite as it not only had a great living room space and kitchen but also two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a washer & dryer inside the unit. I found these features spectacular as many hotels in Honolulu, especially on the main Waikiki strip not to have many of these features, especially in-room washers, and dryers or two separate full bathrooms. This made my stay very relaxed and go smoothly as I had everything I needed right within my room.
Location
Now if you are someone who likes to stay in an accessible spot in Honolulu to explore all the great shops, attractions, and restaurants this resort will be right up your alley. As Ilikai is located right on the main Waikiki strip and is within walking distance of many of the best shops and food spots on Waikiki. Some of the places I found within a mile or less of walking distance included the Royal Hawaiian Center, Ala Moana Beach Park, many gorgeous shops, cafes, restaurants, shaved ice spots, and more.
Along with this, the resort has an easy walking path that will lead straight to Waikiki beach in less than 5 minutes. The path goes along the resort and past another hotel. I overall found the path very easy and beautifully designed as the scenery was gorgeous.
Amenities
Ilikai Resort is another one of my top picks when traveling to Oahu due to the various amenities the resort has for guests. In the lobby of the hotel, you'll be able to spot a convince store filled with various necessities, travel souvenirs, snacks, and more. Along with a row of small specialty shops ranging from a coffee & breakfast cafe to an ice cream parlor, and more. I made visits to each of the businesses and found both the customer service and items offered here top tier. The staff members were extremely welcoming and kind. And I especially adored all the tasty food which was convenient to purchase any time of day.
My favorite business here was a Hawaiian-style breakfast & lunch cafe called Aroma Cafe. This cozy & cute shop opens early in the morning and their menu offers the brunch foods of my dreams. With each item on the menu being island inspired in some way. Some standouts from this cafe include their freshly made açaí bowls which are generously topped with tropical fruits & house-made granola, Hawaiian coffee lattes, and guava waffles.
Fine Dining
Besides these causal food spots, Illikai also is home to two spectacular dine-in restraints. These include Pesca Waikiki Beach and Cinnamons Resteanuts.
For starters, Cinnamons is an island favorite in Hawaii with the restaurant itself has multiple locations in Oahu. Finding this spot right at my hotel was a huge plus as I didn't have to worry about walking far to find a quality place to dine. They are famously known for their breakfast menu which features a wide selection of Hawaiian-inspired entrees from kalula pork eggs Benedict, guava pancakes, and more. Along with this, the restaurant also has a happy hour from 3-5 p.m.
Pesca Waikiki Beach on the other hand is great for those seeking to enjoy a fine dining experience. The restaurant is open all day and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. To arrive at Pesca guests can travel up to the top floors of Illikai where they dine while having access to one of the most scenic and beautiful views in Honolulu. The menu here offers Mediterranean cuisine highlighting fresh seafood which is flown in daily.
Additional Amenities
To have fun and stay entertained while on vacation you can also enjoy various on-site amenities. These include swimming in the hotel’s outdoor pools, working out in the fitness center, or de-stressing at the spa. The hotel also offers free live entertainment on Fridays and Sundays located at the resort’s center courtyards. Here visitors can enjoy live Hawaiian music and hula dancers.
All in all if your searching for spot to enjoy your Hawaiian vacation, Ilikai is a spectacular choice. With the central location right on Waikiki its an unbeatable spot for exploring the city along with the great room features & various amenities.
